Katherine Christensen from Sorrento, Florida showed me her quilt today.  It's from my  Stars on a Tin Roof pattern.  Katherine made her quilt 15 blocks to accommodate a bed in her home.....It turned out lovely Katherine.  Thanks for sharing!

Good afternoon everyone!

First an apology for not writing sooner than today!  No excuses other than the ones everyone hears all the time........busy, busy, busy!

 

I do want to congratulate all of you on getting your blocks back to me on time!  And, to let you know that 552 quarter blocks were received!  I was astounded by the response and can't wait to show you what YOU have all done.

 

Because of the large number of blocks, pictures have been taken of all of them.....but, haven't been posted because of a time thing.  Everyone's name has been recorded and because the blocks were sent back in quarters your sections might not be in just one quilt......so everyone's name will go on each of the quilt labels on the back.

 

Right now, 5 quilts have been sewn together, kinda sorta...strips have been made with the blocks, and today I've started sewing them together. 

 

It does look like I will be needing one more machine quilter's.........if you know of one that would like to donate her time to quilting for this project, please let me know.  

 

As soon as the quilts are returned to me and bound I will get pictures of all of them up on my website.  Each quilt will look a little different and be quite large from the look of things.

A wonderful quilt for her son....

How exciting to get a picture from Rori Jensen today!  Here's a picture of her son's new quilt and what she said,

Hello Lynda,

I finished the graduation quilt for my son and presented it to him yesterday and posted pictures on my Facebook page.  He is graduating from San Diego State University today and we are so proud. 

I used the V-block ruler from Deb Tucker, for the stars,  and it worked beautifully.  I needed to add two rows to make it longer and I added some more connector blocks.  I am very pleased with the results and thank you for creating a wonderful pattern.  I can't wait to get started on the other patterns I have purchased from you.

He is graduating with a Social Science degree from San Diego State with a goal of teaching high school History, Economics, US Government and Geography.  I used Civil War Reproduction fabrics as that is is favorite time in history.

This quilt is called They'll be Coming Around the Mountain.  I love that you used tools that made this easy to make, that you added additional rows to make it special for him and especially love the look on his face.  A job well done Mom!  Congratulations to your son and I can just imagine how proud you are of him.

A Wonderful Visit

Not long ago I posted on face book that I had met a wonderful gal who is a true primitive lover like so many of us that hang around together.  Margaret came across the waters and chose to come visit with me while her husband was here on business.  We had a delightful time talking about quilting, antiques, our children and of course our grand children as well.

Thanks Margaret...I look forward to another visit the next time you are in town.

Good Friday Everyone

It's so hard to believe it's April already...but, it's a fact!  I've posted my April Calendar picture at the top of my blog and it just seems right that "A Little Porch Time", my book published by the Kansas City Star is on the calendar.  It's a perfect time of year to sit on the porch and watch the birds.  We have so many baby birds in our yard right now and we love watching the parents teach their little ones where the worms are.  We have baby wrens, chickadees, titmice, cardinals and saw yesterday where a mocking bird had layed 3 eggs in her nest.  We have another mommy wren sitting on 3 eggs in her nest too.  The bluebirds and flycatchers have been visiting.  We said goodbye to the robins and cedar waxwings and just about all the gold finches are gone now.  They left saying they would see us again next year.

Cold Days seem to be behind all of us, but not here at Primitive Pieces by Lynda.  The magazine, Primitive Quilts and Projects first edition is out of print, so Cold Days has a new look.   This pattern will be sold on the patterns page of my website in the next week or so.  Chelsie worked her magic again and I'm really excited with the new look.  I meet with my printer guy on Tuesday to finalize and print the covers.  I'm very excited to share this new pattern with each of you that perhaps didn't get the magazine.  Here's how the new cover will look........YOU are the first to see it!

Watch the website patterns page....when you see it listed you will be able to purchase it fom there.  All the original kits have been sold from the magazine article, but I am still making them.  A special thank you to everyone that has purchased a kit.  I hope you will send me a picture of yours to share.

Had to share.....

I just had to share Kathy's, from Florida,  Block Party quilt.

This quilt pattern was born after the pieced blocks were made for

a special project for cancer awareness.  It represents the houses in all the neighborhoods around the globe that helped with this project.
