Middle of January already????

And, so how has this happened that I missed greeting all of you for the New Year? I've been pedalling fast it seems, but not fast enough. I've been trying to get the website updated with new pictures - you might want to check out the parlor room........some fun Rudolph's have been posted there along with quilt pictures people have shared. I've gotten the newsletter up on the Gazette page too. And, Christmas pictures are coming down and more quilty pictures are going up. It's amazing how much time all that takes. I enjoyed the holidays so much with family and friends and now it's time to get busy. There are lots of exciting things coming up this year and so I will just keep you posted on the comings and goings as they happen.

So many of you have written to ask about Mr. Hootie.....so here's the first Mr. Hootie report of the year. We thought he had taken off to perhaps find a mate to bring back to the nesting box Pa built for him. But, we now think he just relocated in the garage to a more private place. He moved from the light fixture to a space behind a cupboard. I'm sure he was warmer there. I was going out to play stick with Skeeter and when I opened the kitchen door I heard this fluttering sound.....Mr. Hootie had been sitting on the light fixture by the door. He flew over to the trim molding on the side of the garage, but came back to roost once I got out of the way. The only problem was that when I needed to get back into the house it was through that kitchen door that I had to go......all the other doors were locked. So, we chatted for a bit and even though I reassured him I wouldn't hurt him, he flew off again. The next day he was back in the garage, looking out the window. I think he likes it here with us and do so hope he'll hang around. I'll keep you posted.

Santa was in Florida for a short time..............

Santa came to Florida this past weekend.   We caught up with him at the Bass Pro Shop.  We knew he had to get back up to the North Pole so we made a quick dash to visit him.  I remember when Becca was a little shy around him not so long ago, but she had her list ready this year and she asked me if I had mine.  It was Sarah's turn to be a little shy this year, but she did ask for a lollipop, candy cane and a boat.  Santa was a little surprised, but said he'd do his very best.  Mommy and gramma decided to visit with him too!   I'm not sure what Chelsie asked him for, but I did ask for a Happy, healthy new year for all of us.  A little prosperity would be wonderful as well.  lol  We had a grand time.   From our house to yours.............Merry Christmas! 

Rudolph's

Rudolph's have been spotted around the country...........Debbie St. Germain sent me this bottom picture of Rudolph being spotted looking in her window.........and Lorraine Hofmann sent me this picture of 3 Rudolph's that she made for her grand children........how fun!  I just knew everyone would take this little guy and run with it.  I hope when you make him that you will share a picture with me so I can share with everyone else.  Thanks so much!

The Turkey has a name..........

Hello and Happy Thankgsgiving to everyone!  It's an especially fun day for me as it's also my birthday today.  Every three years it falls on Thanksgiving Day. I'm much older than the turkey, but then he has to keep running so he doesn't end up on someone's table this year. 

All the entries were put into a hat, and although I don't have a "tom" here to pick the winner, my husband Curt has indeed chosen a name.  We both just about cracked up when the winning name was chosen.  And, so I'll have to share that story before I tell you the winning name.........years ago we had some chickens and a rooster that lived here with us.  Every day I would go out and collect the eggs.  And, every time I did the rooster clawed me.  I used to just cry because he wouldn't leave me alone.  Curt was out of town this one particular time and when I went in to get the eggs, our rooster, came at me and clawed me not once, but twice.   Crying, I called my father-in-law and told him what happened.  He said, Lynda, you've got to show him who's the boss. Take a broom in there with you.  When he comes at you, push him away with the broom.  Well, I did take the broom in there with me, but he came at me again and I was so flustered I dropped the broom and yes, once again he showed me who was the boss!  Our Rooster's name was Randolph and Stina is the one who entered that name.

Congratulations to Lori for being the winner in the "What Makes Primitive".....drawing!  I hope this will make you smile on Thanksgiving Day! He will be on his way to you soon.  

I found this turkey running down our road this week, trying to hide behind a pumpkin.  Did he not know you can run, but you can't hide something as big as he is?  He was yelling at the top of his lungs..........gobble, gobble, gobble!  I didn't see any hunters so I think he can be thankful he's only hanging in Lori's house for the holidays.
