Good Morning,
It's time for another BLOCK PARTY! I will be working again this coming year with Quilts for a Cause, Inc. I have designed a block, that will be sent out to everyone that wants to participate. The deadline for signing up is January 5th. Please email me, piecemaker51@aol.com if you would like to participate.
I will also be looking for long arm quilter's that would be able to donate their time to machine quilt the quilts that we make. In past year's we have been able to make 3-4 quilts.
If your name is on the list, you will receive a pdf file of the block and instructions, deadlines, etc. Some of you could only make one; many of you had your own block parties and sent me 10-15 blocks.
(NOTE: please do not sign up if you are unable to complete at least one block. Time is important to all of us and sometimes we just can't do it all)
Cancer is something that has touched all of our lives.....I hope you will join me again this year for a cause that means so much to so many.
I will be back in touch with everyone after the January 5th deadline.
Hugs, Lynda

I would love to help, could you give me more details on size, type of block and deadline. I want to make sure I can make one, nice enough, but have lots of fabrics that I won and want to help others.
Debbie
I would love to help out with one block. I am like WoolenSails...since I am more of a hand work person, I am pretty new to sewing blocks, so just need to know if they are extremely complicated..if not, I am more than happy to help.
I just realized I'm not the first with my question - Can you give us any information about the block - size, number of pieces, etc? Or maybe a small peak at a finished one?
Hi Lynda, I'd love to be included on making a block.
Debbie - you asked about block size, type of block and deadline.................
I am working on the block at the present time, but have always found that a block at least 12 or 12 1/2 inches is best. It will be a pieced block this year. The auction is to be held March 2, 2013 - Yes, that's a little over a year from now. BUT, because of other commitments by each of us we need to get started. Trust me - the time seems to just fly by these days.
The deadline to sign up is January 5th - so no one will receive their packet until after that deadline.
The first year I did this I gave everyone a VERRRRRY long time to complete the block (s) and because of that some forgot to even do it. PLEASE - if you sign up I really need you to follow through. You will certainly have more than a couple of months to complete a block. Actually, I'm hoping you will get with your friends and have your own block party and make more than one. The more the merrier! If you can't do that, it's ok too! Quilt for a Cause is very grateful for what we send to them. You will receive deadline information in your packet that you will receive.
Actually there will be several deadlines.....date to return the blocks
date that the machine quilting needs to be returned, dates I need to have the quilts to Quilts for a Cause, Inc.
Remember - there are other commitments that we each have.
Michelle - you asked about difficulty
I promise the block will be easier than hard. They can be hand pieced and/or machine pieced and the instructions will be step by step. I'm one email away for any of you if you need assistance.
Mary - you asked about number of pieces and size
I've played with several ideas and haven't decided on just one yet...BUT, I do promise it will be doable. Don't you just love the suspense? lol Sorry, but I want to work out all the details before I show you.
I'm in Lynda...always happy to help!
I think I can manage a block or two..put me down! My first husband died of cancer 12 years ago...I can't think of a better cause!
I would love to also help and I promise at least one will be completed. I lost my Dad to cancer this past February, so I am directly affected by this awful disease.
Thanks
Michelle
I would love to help out. Count me in.
Becky

An interesting discussion is worth comment. I think that you should write more on this topic.
Steam cleaning Reno.....I could go on for days about this topic of conversation and have for several years now. You can see the quilts that have been made and that were auctioned off to help in cancer research on my website:
http://www.primitivepiecesbylynda.com - just click on the telegraph page to see the older quilts - 2005 and 2008.
You can also go to http://quiltforacause.org/ and see the wonderful work they do there...I believe they have every quilt from all over on their site.
You can also see patterns that have been designed by some (me included - mine is Twist 'n Shout)
that they sell from their website.
http://www.quiltforacause.org/patterns.html
You can check out the Box Lunch Social Page on my website as well to see the current project....

There is always room for more people and even though the deadline to sign up is come and gone - you are so very welcomed to join us. Send me an email -
piecemaker51@aol.com and I'll be happy to send you a pdf file. Welcome aboard! Hugs, L
A block party is a large public party in which many members of a single neighbourhood congregate.
Yes, it is and isn't it fun that our neighborhood of helping out with cancer research is so large?
This is a good project, its cause means so much to so many.
